AKOLO’ LATE PAM

Are Nigerians tolerant or complacent? Every human has a breaking point. Now, is it that as a nation we are so broken it is difficult to gather our pieces together and be whole again? Many in this life have come to that point where they don’t qualify themselves as alive despite their talents and abilities. They live but bear the title LATE; a fate so drastic, ominous of an irredeemable death phase. These are the thoughts that brim from Akolo Anthony James’ LATE PAM. A farce of one act with two characters exploring a world of choices. A world rhomboid with injustice, irresponsibility, identity, and deception. The play, no doubt is a great work of art in which authority, order, and morality are at risk, having ordinary people caught in an extraordinary event.

LATE PAM is a highly intellectual and emotional piece. It featured as one of the plays in the 10th Jos Festival of theatre in 2016 in Jos – Plateau State and now, in the Lagos theatre.

This objet d’ art was written by Akolo Anthony James. A bona fide son of the Eggon community of Nassarawa State, Nigeria. He began his career writing poetry. In 2010, he joined the Jos Repertory Theatre where he worked as an actor featuring in many great plays. His entry into mainstream theatre gave rise to the thought of creating his own works by introducing a neural pathway in the theatre industry. His works include and not limited to: A Toast of Triumph, The Funeral Planners, Late Pam, and Brother Jonah’ vocation.

The play will be performed in Lagos at the University of Lagos Guest House, Lecture Theatre Hall, University of Lagos, Nigeria on the 30th of September, 2018.
